    This 12 month faculty position promotes the growth of the Viticulture and Enology program, instructs lecture and lab classes, develops and instructs seminars in the Enology Outreach Program, and coordinates activities at the T. V. Munson Vineyard and the T. V. Munson Instructional Winery.

    Responsibilities

    • 45%   Instructs the certificate and degree programs in viticulture and enology. Manages at least 15 hours of courses each semester, meets classes as assigned, and provides assistance to students outside of class.
    • 15%   Develops and instructs workforce education courses and seminars for the Southeastern wine/grape industry.
    • 10%   Participates in community outreach initiatives.
    • 10%   Assists in registration, advising, and recruiting students and serves on college committees.
    • 10%   Develops learning outcome measures and new courses.
    • 5%     Participates with the department in updating existing measures as needed to meet State of Texas performance indicators.
    • 5%     Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Dean, Department Chair, or Program Director.

    Qualifications

    • Education: A minimum of an Associate's degree with six years or more related work experience OR a Bachelor's degree with 2- 5 years of related experience. A Master's degree in a field related to viticulture and enology preferred.
    • Previous successful experience teaching in a college or university setting or previous employment as a successful viticulture and enology professional with commercial wine production experience.
    • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Computer and multi-media skills.
    • Must be available and willing to teach at non-traditional times, days, and places and teach online courses.
    • Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion which includes standing, walking, bending, and heavy lifting of objects between 50 and pounds.
    • Work Environment:Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.
