  • Overview

    Facilitates excellent and accurate administrative services and customer service from the Financial Aid Office and the Veterans' Services Office. Functions as an objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues and concerns within the department. Acts on behalf of the Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Services in his/her absence.

    Responsibilities

    • 15%   Manages, trains, instructs, and monitors work performed by financial aid employees in the area of student financial aid eligibility, awarding, customer service and published information.
    • 15%   Ensures student eligibility for state and federal financial aid programs and that verification of applicants is completed in a timely manner according to federal guidelines. Counsels students and parents concerning financial aid eligibility. Awards state and federal financial aid programs to eligible students in accordance with state and federal regulations by mandated deadlines.
    • 10%   Completes federal and state financial aid reports in a timely manner.
    • 10%   Completes an annual internal compliance review and ensures with the Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Affairs that the department policies and procedures comply with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, that the college policies and procedures are being followed and that behavior in the department meets NASFAA Standards of Conduct.
    • 10%   Assists the Director in developing and performing pre-audits for Financial Aid and Veteran Services and in completing federal and state financial aid reports.
    • 10%   Engages in professional development activities. Attends state, regional and federal conferences and workshops to maintain current knowledge of financial aid and Veteran programs, regulations, and requirements. Plans and conducts annual financial aid workshops.
    • 10%   Works in conjunction with the Admission Office and other offices on student recruitment as it relates to the financial aid process. This includes participating in events on and off campus.
    • 10%   Acts as liaison with Institutional Research department to compile reports utilizing Excel, Access, and CAMS for the Director regarding; Satisfactory Academic Progress, Scholarships, FISAP, state aid programs, and miscellaneous reports as needed.
    • 5%     Writes processes and procedures for all tasks performed by staff and update as required by federal and state laws.
    • 5%     Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor's degree.
    • Two years to five years of similar or related work experience.
    • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
    • Ability to multi-task.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
    • Working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing software, Microsoft Office, and/or other related products strongly desired.
