Grayson College Center for Workplace Learning Kid's Camp Staff needed: Temporary full-time positions

 

CWL Kid's Camp Staff will play a crucial role in creating a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment for campers. Camp staff will be tasked with helping camp participants to carry out activities, development, growth, skill achievement, and their general well-being.  The primary objective of Camp Staff is keeping all camp activities on schedule and directing camp participants individually per their needs. 

 

Camps will be held at both our Denison and Van Alstyne campuses.

 

Must be available to work the following Camp dates as needed:

 

June 3rd-June 6th

June 9th-June 14th

June 24th- June 27th

July 7th-July 11th

July 15th- July 19th

July 22nd- July 25th

July 29th- August 1st

 

The hourly rate for this position is $22 per hour.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise campers during times campers are not in the classroom.
  • Ensure campers safety during activities, meals, and free time.
  • Follow the schedule for camp participants.
  • Maintain discipline and ensure that campers follow camp rules and guidelines. They may need to address conflicts between campers and enforce consequences for inappropriate behavior.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Record and tracks camper’s dietary restrictions/allergies and ensures that the meals/snacks are distributed to them.
  • Mediates any campers’ disputes
  • Always know the whereabouts of their assigned campers.
  • Serve as positive role models for campers, demonstrating good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for others.
  • Communicate regularly with campers, staff members, and instructors to provide updates on camp activities, progress, and any concerns or issues that arise.
  • Help keep campus area clean and organized.
  • Help with the sign in activitiy and assist in checking authorized pickup.

  1. Creates and maintains effective relationships with students, client companies, and staff to provide a high level of service and support.

  2. Promotes the educational values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  3. Serves as a role model to students.

  4. Represents Grayson College well; serves as an ambassador for the college in the community.

  5. Compliance with all laws and regulations related to industrial technology and higher education.

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma/GED. Some higher education preferred
  • Work under the general direction of the program director
  • Experience in implementing camps, youth programs, recreation activities, working with children, or in a related field or classroom management preferred.
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
  • Ability to interact with students positively and encouragingly.
  • First Aid certification

Physical Demands:

  • Walking from building to building on campus, outdoors.
  • Subject to standing, sitting, hearing, talking, vision, lifting to 20 lbs., pushing, pulling, handling, fine dexterity, foot controls, crouching, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing and reaching.

 

This position requires three professional references. This position is considered a security sensitive position and will require a criminal background check.
